about

Conceptually, this is a song about dementia. I have struggled to remember things my entire life, from school, to conversations, to songs I have written, etc. I'm not good at memorizing.

It was written largely in a hotel room, in western PA. According to my wife, in the dead of one night, I sat-up in bed (while sleeping) & exclaimed, "We're getting postcards from the future!" Then I went back to sleep. Unfortunately, I have no more details to share...

lyrics

V1) This morning I woke up, and everything had changed.
I did not know how, or why my life was rearranged.
Confused by people, that I saw, in those places.
I couldn't put my finger on, any of their faces.

CH) Sometimes things.
Make me feel / Are too real
These postcards.
Are not real / Used to make me feel

BG) Where is my remote control?
Who took my mobile phone?
Did I drive or ride-share here?
Am I left all alone?
Did I take my pills yet?
Do I have kids in this life?
Who is the President?
Are you my wife?

CH)

V2) One morning I'll wake-up, and I won’t know where I am.
All cognition will have left, I’ll be in a real jam.
What was I speaking of just now? Do you recall?
One morning... Did I wake up? Or not at all? Help me…

CH)
